A memorial service was held on Sunday for 95 people who died in an earthquake that hit northwest China's Gansu province seven days ago.
More than 500 officials, police officers, doctors, residents and volunteers attended the service at an assembly hall in Majiagou Village of Minxian County at around 10 a.m..
According to Chinese tradition, the seventh day after one's death is an occasion for the deceased's relatives to mourn the passing of their loved one.
A 6.6-magnitude quake that jolted the junction of Minxian and Zhangxian counties at 7:45 a.m. on Monday left 95 people dead and another 1,461 injured.
In the provincial capital of Lanzhou, which is 280 km from Minxian County, residents mourned the victims in their own ways. Some of them stood in silent tribute spontaneously while others raised donations for quake-affected families.
