Beijing police on Tuesday vowed to clamp down on violent crime and ensure public security following a spate of deadly crime over the past week.
Police said it will take multiple efforts to combat criminal offenses and crack down on serious crime.
The city will add more police to patrol the streets at night, as well as on weekends.
Efforts will also be made to prevent and crack down on criminal activities in crowded areas. Police will enhance oversight over Internet cafes, small hotels, bathhouses and entertainment venues.
It will also ramp up security checks at major roads that enter the city and improve screening for dangerous articles.
Three men were apprehended by local police on Monday, including two men who are implicated in the killing of a toddler that occurred on July 23 and a man who is suspected of setting off a home-made explosive at the Beijing Capital International Airport on July 20.
