The Guangzhou Customs service will offer complimentary luggage storage for transit passengers who make visa-free visits to Guangdong province, the agency said in a statement on Wednesday.
Starting Thursday, Guangzhou will become the third Chinese city to introduce the 72-hour visa-free policy.
Travelers from 45 countries who hold onward tickets to visit a third country will be able to stay in Guangzhou, the provincial capital, for three days without a visa and to visit anywhere in the province during their stay.
Guangzhou Customs has pledged to increase efficiency in its luggage check-in.
It will also strengthen cooperation with airliners to speed up the clearance process.
It has allocated a special passage for such passengers and opened a hotline for inquiries.
