The Badminton World Federation (BWF) on Tuesday announced the suspension of two Thai shuttlers who involved in a brawl during a game last month.

Bodin Issara beat his former men's doubles partner Maneepong Jongjit during the final of Canada Open on July 21 after a spat with his Thai compatriot.

Bodin's pair was disqualified after a black card was issued and Maneepong got the champion.

BWF said in a statement on Tuesday that Bodin are suspended for two years from all tournaments sanctioned by the BWF while Maneepong receives a three-month ban.

Both sanctions are effective from the date of the incident and the players have 21 days in which to appeal.

"In addition, Issara will forfeit the world-ranking points and prize money earned from the said event," BWF said.

The world's badminton governing body said the decision was made after the Disciplinary Committee reviewed video footage and written evidence, including statements from both players, Thailand team officials and tournament officials.

Bodin and Maneepong were one of the top men's doubles in the world. The two reached quarterfinals at the 2012 London Olympics but broke up later.
