The International Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) Shanghai Alternative Hearing Center held its first hearing on Monday.
The hearing is about the disputes of the South Korean Seoul soccer club and Australian Newcastle United Jets soccer club over their training compensation.
It was the first hearing held by the CAS Shanghai branch since its establishment last November. The Shanghai branch is the first Alternative Hearing Center established by CAS in Asia and is tasked with resolving sports-related disputes.
It was also the first hearing CAS held in its four hearing centers. The other three branches are opened in Abu Dhabi, Kuala Lumpur and Cairo.
The hearing will be non-public and arbitrated by international sports arbitrator Efrain Barak of Isarel.
The Shanghai branch doesn't have its own arbitration staff, and instead officials from the main court in Switzerland will travel to Shanghai to hear cases. Enditem
