Typhoon Utor hit south China.s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region around 4 a.m. this morning, bringing heavy rain and strong wind.
Utor made landfall in south China.s Guangdong province on Wednesday afternoon, and was downgraded to a tropical storm. It is now moving northwest at a speed of 13 kilometers an hour.
Earlier, nearly 160,000 people in Guangdong and Hainan provinces had to be relocated. Utor also caused a cargo ship to capsize in Hong Kong. The government has advised people to stay indoors.
Utor is the 11th typhoon to hit China this year. It killed seven people in the Philippines.
