Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in Phnom Peah on Tuesday night for an official visit to further enhance the bilateral ties and cooperation between the two countries.
At the Phnom Penh International Airport, Wang was cordially greeted by Long Visalo, secretary of state of the Cambodian foreign ministry and Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Bu Jianguo.
The visit came at the invitation of Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Hor Namhong, said a statement from the Cambodian foreign ministry on Monday.
During the stay, Wang will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Hun Sen and hold a bilateral talk with Hor Namhong, the statement added.
His visit to Cambodia also coincides with the celebration this year 2013 of the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and China and the Cambodia- China Year of Friendship, it said.
Cambodia and China have witnessed rapid development of the bilateral relations in the last decade. The ties reached the top level of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation in December 2010, and during the visit of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to China in April this year, both sides signed the Action Plan of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation.
