31 Madagascan students receive scholarships from China

China awarded scholarships to 31 Madagascan students, the Chinese Embassy to the Indian Ocean island country announced on Thursday.

The students will go to China's best universities for various studies. They will stay in China for three or four years, including a year of training in the Chinese language before further study and graduation with Master or PhD degrees, the embassy said.

The scholarships offered by the Chinese government cover a monthly allowance, international transport, housing and food, medical expenditure and other administrative costs related to their learning.

More than 300 Madagascan students have been granted scholarships from China since 1970.
