Drugstores ready to sell milk powder

Excluding supermarkets and online stores, residents will be able to buy milk powder at vending machines in drugstores in Jiangsu province starting October this year.

From October to Spring Festival, which falls in late January 2014, trial sales of milk powder at vending machines in drugstores will begin in Beijing and Jiangsu according to the government's related regulations.

All the milk powders will be purchased and delivered by an international brand management center.

The vending machines will also be able to authenticate milk powders to guarantee safety.

Residents in Zhangjiagang of Jiangsu province support the sales channel.

"Milk powder sold in drugstores has to get an extra inspection to be trusted."

"Food safety is a problem now, and once milk powder is sold in drug stores, quality will be guaranteed. It's also convenient to buy milk powder at vending machines." Employees in many drugstores of the city said they are making preparations for milk powder sales, although the government's detailed regulations are still underway.

Zhao Xiushen, a manager of a drugstore in Zhangjiagang, said they will inspect milk powder and medicine in the same way. As a result, milk powder in drugstores can be guaranteed safe.
