Olympic champion Chen Ruolin failed to win a medal in her trademark 10m platform event at the National Games here on Thursday.
Chen, 21, had to settle for a fourth-finish in the final with 399.30 points, while the gold was claimed by Shandong girl Liu Xin, only 13, with five solid dives in 414.80.
Wu Shengping took the silver for Jiangsu in 411.90, while Huang Xiaohui brought Chinese Army a bronze in 405.85.
Chen and Wu were the runners-up in the synchro 10m platform at the National Games Monday.
"I am 21, and Liu is only 13. She has a lot of advantages in age, height and weight," said Chen, Beijing and London Olympic champion in both individual and synchronized platform. "And Liu is quite stable during the match. She is a good diver."
Si Yajie, who outclassed Chen to win the 10m platform at the Barcelona World Championships in July, finished sixth in 389.00.
The National Games is only the second major event taken part in by Liu, who won the 10m platform at the National Junior Championships in June. The girl seemed more nervous at the news conference than she was on the platform.
"My coach just expect me to perform to my normal level and enjoy the match," She said. "I was happy during the match."
Asked about her feelings about competing with star diver Chen, She only said: "I didn't think about it."
