Cars top killer of youth

Car crashes are the leading cause of death among Shanghai's youth, according to a report in Shanghai Evening Post.

According to statistics from the Shanghai Municipal Center for Disease Control and Prevention, about one-third of the deaths of locals under the age of 18 were caused by traffic accidents.

Of the 1.3 million people who die each year in traffic accidents around the world, about one-third are children, according to figures from the World Health Organization.
