A devoted dog that returns daily outside a Buddhist temple in Sichuan Province to search for its owner has recently become a local media darling.
The yellow dog, named 'Huang Huang' by tourist bus drivers and parking lot staff, has appeared consistently outside the Guangyan Chanyuan Temple near Chengdu for the past 15 days, where he boards buses and sniffs around in hopes he'll find his owner, reported West China City Daily on September 9.
"I stop here five times a day, and each time the dog hops on to check," said a bus attendant surnamed Yang.
According to bus staff, the dog began turning up every day between 8 am and 6 pm after he was separated from his owner at the temple two weeks ago. Huang Huang quickly became a favorite among drivers and staff, who feed and play with him.
"The dog looks for its owner every day without fail," said lot attendant Gou Huiqun, adding it was unclear whether the dog was abandoned.
Weibo users have launched an online search for Huang Huang's owner. Parking lot employees say the dog failed to make his daily inspection on September 8.
