Starting in 2014, outdoor food stalls within the Fifth Ring Road will be restricted to designated areas. Illegal stalls and unlicensed vendors will be punished, the Beijing Daily reported.
According to the Beijing city administration and law enforcement authority, illegal outdoor grills will no longer be tolerated in the core urban districts by 2016. Starting next year, licensed restaurants can apply for an outdoor serving area, but the grilling must take place indoors, and smoke and soot collection systems must be installed inside restaurants.
