A pilot group of 20 drugstores will start selling baby milk formula powder on October 26, the Beijing Times reports.
The formula, which will be sold from vending machines, will be sold in packaging with electronic labels. According to the Ministry of Commerce, these labels cannot be easily duplicated, and can be used to track down consumers if safety issues arise.
Specific store locations have not been decided yet, but the government is targeting drugstores that are located north of Chang'an Avenue and inside the Fourth Ring Road
