People in Lanzhou, Gansu Province or Mianyang, Sichuan Province or Harbin, Heilongjiang Province will have the chance to view two moons at the same time over Mid-autumn Festival , thanks to city displays of "manmade moons" inspired by the September 19 holiday.
An artificial moon with a diameter of 15 meters was hung at Lanzhou's main square by a local real estate company on Monday. It said that the moon will be lit up to appear as a real moon to mark the festival.
A substitute moon created by a local tourism company in Mianyang has also attracted passersby.
"This moon is meant to see that everyone get a chance to enjoy a view of the moon for the festival - even if the weather is rainy or cloudy," Liu Shikang, who was responsible for setting up the moon.
Made of steel and glass and lit up by special lamps below, Harbin's moon structure has been hung 50 meters in the air in the city center.
