The Chinese Embassy in Laos held a reception here on Friday to celebrate the 64th anniversary of the foundation of the People's Republic of China.
Speaking at the reception, Chinese Ambassador to Laos Guan Huabing said, "Since the founding of the People's Republic of China, and particularly since the country introduced the reform and opening-up policy over 30 years ago, under the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party, China's economy developed rapidly and its overall national strength and global influence significantly increased and people's living standards greatly improved."
"In the first half of this year, the Chinese economy maintained steady growth, employment and prices are stable. There is noticeable improvement in market expectation and confidence is strengthening. We are confident that we have the conditions and capacity to maintain a sustained, healthy and stable economic growth," Guan said.
China and Laos are truly good neighbors, good friends, good comrades and good partners, with long-lasting traditional friendship deeply rooted among two peoples. Forged by Chinese and Lao leaders and peoples, China-Laos comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership continues to keep a sound growth momentum. Since this year, the exchange of high-level visits between the two countries is frequent, President Choummaly Sayasone will pay an official goodwill visit to China, and Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong participated in the 10th China-ASEAN Exposition in Nanning and met with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang, Guan noted.
"China and Laos have common ideal and faith; we are undertaking the important task for development of economy and improvement of people's living standards. We wish to work with Lao People to deepen and enrich our comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, thus benefiting the people of two countries, and making contribution to the peace and development of the region and of the world," Guan said.
Lao Deputy Prime Minister Thongloun Sisoulith and other guests, including Lao government officials, representatives of Chinese- invested enterprises, Chinese nationals and students in Laos, and some foreign diplomats, attended the reception.
China and Laos established diplomatic ties on April 25, 1961.
