A street vendor in northeast China's Liaoning province was executed on Wednesday for killing two urban management officers and severely injuring another, according to the Intermediate People's Court of Shenyang.
Xia Junfeng, 36, used to sell kebabs near a crossroad in Shenhe district of Shenyang city, capital of Liaoning, despite warnings from urban management officers that it was forbidden to set up a stand in the area, court documents said.
On May 16, 2009, Xia was taken away by urban management officers to their office just after he set up the stand, said the court.
In the office, Xia had an argument with the officers and stabbed them. Two officers named Shen Kai and Zhang Xudong died and another officer, Zhang Wei was injured, the court said.
Xia fled the scene but was captured soon after.
The court handed down a death sentence to Xia after finding him guilty of intentional homicide on Nov. 15, 2009.
Xia appealed against the sentence but this was rejected by the Liaoning Provincial Higher People's Court on May 9, 2011.
The execution was carried out on Wednesday morning after the Supreme People's Court endorsed Xia's death sentence.
