Four people were killed and 650,000 affected as typhoon Usagi's downpours swept central China's Hunan province, said authorities on Wednesday.

As of 7 p.m. Wednesday, about 39,000 residents of the province had been relocated due to rainstorms brought by the most powerful typhoon this year. Four people were killed in landslides.

Rainstorms also brought floods to rivers and reservoirs.

Usagi was designated a super typhoon on Saturday when it passed through the Philippines and Taiwan, moving toward China's mainland.

It made the landfall at the costal area of Shanwei City in south China's Guangdong Province on Sunday.

As of Tuesday, it has killed at least 29 people in Guangdong, disrupting lives of 9.23 million people in the province.
