Award winning artwork all based on the theme of Tibet. From Thursday, over 200 pieces of art from the second "Beauty of Tibet" contest will be displayed at China's National Grand Theatre.
Tibet has become an important theme of contemporary Chinese art.Organizers of the exhibition hope these artworks can be windows on Tibet, through which people can see its history, culture, social development and people' life, besides its attractive landscape.
One of the five Golden Award Winners is this Thang-ga piece, a religious painting form on cloth dating back 1300 years. This piece took the artist three years to complete.
"Tibetan Thang-ga paintings don't follow the usual rules of perspective. Instead, the central image in Thang-ga is bigger than the surrounding ones." Said Trizeng Rabten, painter.
In a variety of painting forms, all work here follows the theme of "Beauty" and "Harmony" of Tibet.
Visitors have their own responses to the exhibition.
" I like human paintings. If you look at this one, or if you see this one, these are paintings about how the people are living, how the people dressed, how the people looking like and of course they are talking about history, how life goes on." Visitor sid.
The first Beauty of Tibet painting contest was held in 2011. The year's exhibition will last until October 10th, and the even better news is, it's free.
