About 50 foreign designers taking part in Beijing International Design Week have submitted proposals to improve living conditions in the Dashilan neighborhood. The designs - addressing problems such as lavatories and parking - are on display in the hutong, the Beijing Daily reported.
The historical Dashilan neighborhood has a population of 55,000 and is home to more than 40 time-honored businesses and more than 100 historical sites. The residents will collaborate with the designers to make the proposals practical in Dashilan.
