The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on Sunday issued safety advice before China's week-long holiday from Oct. 1 to 7.

The instructions urges tourists not to climb mountains that are not developed by management agencies. People are asked to take public transport vehicles to join large-scale events and avoid rush hours.

The MPS warned tourists off over-crowded areas in a bid to avoid potential stampedes, asking them to listen to the command staff at events.

It is best not to take elders and children to crowded areas, said the instruction.

The week-long holiday begin on the October 1 National Day every year.
