A wingsuit flyer fell to the ground after a parachute failed to open during a trial flight at a scenic spot in central China's Hunan province, local authorities said on Tuesday.
The Hungarian wingsuit competition contestant plunged into a valley at 3 p.m. in Tianmen Mountain National Forest Park in Zhangjiajie City during a trial jump after his parachute failed to open before landing.
Rescuers are still searching for the contestant, but the area's steep cliffs have hampered the rescue work, park authorities said.
The Second World Wingsuit Championship is scheduled to be held at the park from Oct. 11 to 13.
