A wanted suspect involved in the alleged economic violations by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) China, was captured on Saturday in Zunyi, Southwest China's Guizhou Province, the Beijing Times reported Tuesday.
The suspect, surnamed Guo, was taken by local police from a small hotel in Zunyi's Suiyang county during an inspection.
Guo checked in under the alias of Yang Jie. The police found her to resemble the photo profile of a suspect wanted in the GSK China case.
According to the probes into GSK China, the pharmaceutical giant used to transfer money in to big travel agencies and then take cash out to bribe government officials, directors, doctors and heads of medicine procurement in many major hospitals across the country.
Guo, who used to work for Xi'an China Travel Service in Shaanxi Province, had been wanted since late September for alleged involvement in business bribery totaling 20 million yuan ($3.27 million).
The police confirmed Guo's identity. She will be transferred to the Shaanxi police.
GSK China has been probed by Chinese authorities since late June for suspected bribery and tax-related violations, which the company used to boost drug sales and push up prices.
