The area behind a parked blood-collection vehicle at Dongzhimen public transport hub is being used as a public toilet, despite the presence of lavatory facilities only 100 meters away, the Beijing Morning Post reported.
According to a blood-collection staffer surnamed Zhang, the vehicle cost one million yuan ($163,000) and had just been put into use on September 15. It is parked along the wall east of the bus transport hub. Many people relieve themselves behind the vehicle, as is evident from the urine residue on the ground and accompanying stench. The staff have posted signs forbidding such behavior, to no avail.
A staff of the blood donation service hotline said the location is a temporary parking spot for them. They will contact the transport hub and jointly resolve the problem.
