A former official charged with taking bribes of just under 20 million yuan ($3.3 million) stood trial at Beijing No 1 Intermediate People's Court on Thursday.
Tian Xueren, Jilin provincial vice-governor from 2004 to 2008, is accused of abusing his power to supply favors related to promotion and business opportunities to about 10 people between 1995 and 2011, prosecutors say.
Tian accepted bribes 85 times, totaling 19.19 million yuan, the prosecutors allege. He was arrested on July 19, 2012.
The court did not announce a verdict on Thursday.
