600 precious photos all tell the story of China's rise, from humiliation to renewal.
University volunteers retell the history of each moment captured in the pictures.
"This picture depicts the founding ceremony of the People's Republic of China. Here is Chairman Mao announcing the birth of the nation to the world. These pictures are of great historical value, and it's really exciting to have them here." Volunteer said.
"After the founding of the People 's Republic of China, many scientists living overseas returned to serve the motherland, and that includes rocket scientist Qian Xuesen." Volunteer said.
Other exhibits include copies of the Sino-British Joint Declaration. Britain agreed to return Hong Kong to China in this historic document.
The event, which is free of charge, has attracted over twenty thousand visitors. The organizers hope to inspire a spirit of patriotism among the youth in Hong Kong.
