Food is usually forbidden in theatres, but not today. All kinds of snacks are up for grabs before the show, and this is just the beginning of the 5D drama experience.
"Usually an occasion like this is very solemn, but today it feels like a market place, this is something really new." Audience member said.
"This is really interesting, I'm looking forward to more surprises in the show." Audience member said.
The show is set in ancient China. A princess loses her sense of taste at a young age. She then searches for delicacies from far and wide to revive her palate.
The 3D stage effects and the beautiful set deliver an enchanting experience. The actor also throws food to the audience from time to time, and some are even invited to play a part on stage.
"I was so nervous when I got up there! It was great interacting with them and I felt like I was part of the drama, it's like travelling back in time." Audience member said.
But out of all the delicacies she tries, the princess's taste buds are revived by a bowl of simple fried rice with eggs.
The show will be staged 80 more times in Shanghai before coming to Beijing. Could this be the beginning of a new entertainment trend in China? Only time will tell.
