Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun has called for efforts to ensure long-term stability of Tibet Autonomous Region in order to guarantee the region's leapfrog economic development.
Guo, also a state councilor, made the comments during a three-day tour of Tibet that ended Wednesday.
Guo inspected police stations to check on the work of police patrols, how criminal and non-criminal reports were resolved, fire fighting and public service.
Officials should solve peoples' problems and mobilize the public to safeguard social security, he said.
Guo also visited the Jokhang Temple and the Zhaibung Monastery, urging the police to safeguard the legal rights of Buddhist monks and nuns, religious believers and tourists from China and abroad.
