Thieves steal power lines

More than 300 households and 10 stores in Putuo district lost power for half of the day Thursday because cable thieves cut the power lines, local media reported.

The residential community, on Jiaotong Road, has suffered nine similar cases this year, the news website xinmin.cn reported. In September, electric appliances in more than 200 households were damaged after a thief cut one of the power lines.

Thieves made off with as much as 200 meters of cable Thursday.
