There will be an increase in the number of sites where public transport IC cards can be returned and refund procedures for damaged cards will be simplified, the Beijing News reported.
Currently, there are only 69 sites for IC card return, only 12 of which will accept damaged cards; those numbers will increase to 100 and 20, respectively.
The current refund policy, in which the outstanding balance is only returned after seven working days and balances in excess of 100 yuan ($16) must be handled at the service center at Xidan, is expected to change before 2014.
New card return sites will be built near main transportation hubs such as airports and railway stations.
