Seventeen new electric buses will begin running Saturday on the No.22 city bus line, the Xinmin Evening News reported.
The vehicles can drive more than 150 kilometers on single charge while fully loaded with 75 passengers. The buses will broadcast stop announcements in Putonghua, English and the Shanghai dialect. Authorities hope the addition of the buses will help improve the air quality in the city. There are currently more than 360 new-energy public buses operating in the city.
