China to host Asia-Pacific Amateur Golf Championship

The Asia-Pacific amateur golf championship will kick off on Thursday in eastern China's Longkou city with defending champion Guan Tianlang aiming to win again this year.

Guan is the youngest player to make the cut in PGA Tour history and play in 2013 Masters Tournament. Talked about the championship, Guan was confident.

"I heard it's going to be quite chilly and cold in the morning, but I will just focus on my own game and try to do my best to conquer the golf course, and hopefully I can defend my title," Guan said.

The Asia-Pacific amateur championship is organized by the Asia Pacific Golf Confederation (APGC) and was first played in 2009. It was organized in conjunction with the Masters Tournament and The R&A, organizers of The Open Championship.

The winner of the championship can receive an invitation to the Masters and, along with the runner-up, gains entry to International Final Qualifying for the British Open.
