Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Friday urged the Chinese mainland and Taiwan to set aside disturbances and pool wisdom to solve political issues and boost their relations.
Yu, chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference National Committee, made the remarks while meeting with Wu Poh-Hsiung, honorary chairman of the Kuomintang Party.
Wu and his delegation are in Nanning to attend the ninth Cross-Strait Economic, Trade and Culture Forum, which will run on Oct. 26 and 27.
Yu called for a strengthening of emotive ties between people from both sides to jointly boost the revival of the Chinese nation.
Promoting mutual understanding and maintaining sound interactions are the significant foundations for cross-Strait relations to proceed steadily in the right direction, according to Yu.
He expressed hope that both sides can prioritize the overall interests of the Chinese nation and continue to push forward the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations.
Every generation has its own responsibility to improve and develop cross-Strait relations, said Wu, vowing to promote these ties toward new achievements.
