A primary school teacher claims that the local education bureau of Tianxin district of Changsha, Hunan province has forced her to stay at a demolition center - instead of teach during the day - until her mother-in-law agrees to relocate to make way for a development project. The news has many Net users upset over what they see as an "abuse of power."
According to Tan Shuangxi, Tianxin district officials sent her a notice on Friday, saying that she would be released from her "daytime shift" at the demolition center after she convinces her mother-in-law to sign a relocation agreement.
"What should I do?" Tan asked in an online post.
Many Net users questioned the relationship between local education department and demolition authorities, saying that the notice was an act of "random power."
"What kind of relationship does the education department have with those in charge of government demolition projects?" Net user Yueliangwan wondered. "How can they force a teacher from her job because one of her relatives refuses to move. The teacher's family owns the house, not the teacher, so why is she being punished?"
But some Net users like Net user Lingluofuhua51730399 said that Tan should persuade her mother-in-law to relocate for the good of society.
"As ordinary people, we should not harm the social and national benefits of the country's," added Net user Fanchenqingxin.
