A highway linking China's last county inaccessible by road to the rest of the country, is set to open today.
The 117 kilometer long route links Medog county in Tibet Autonomous Region to Zhamog Township. Getting out of Medog used to be very dangerous, involving climbing two snow mountains 4,000 meter above sea level.
The Zhamog-Medog starts along the Number 318 National Road in Zhamog township in Bomi county. It goes through the 4,400-meter high Galung La Mountain and cross 6 rivers, to reach Medog.
