A woman surnamed Tian sustained facial injuries and bruises from a fall while being chased by a dog and subsequently sued the couple who cared for the dog. She asked for damages of more than 8,000 yuan ($1,312), the Beijing News reported.
Tian said she had been bitten by the same dog the previous month and that the people responsible for the accident were the ones who had adopted the stray dog, two people surnamed Hu and Wang. She asked them to apologize to her and to compensate for her loss. Hu and Wang claimed that they were not responsible because they were only looking after the stray dog, and that Tian had fallen because the road was uneven.
The court found that Hu and Wang were in fact liable and sentenced the two to pay Tian 2,949 yuan ($483.6), but did not make them apologize.
