Ding Junhui won the International Championship by beating Marco Fu 10-9 in a tremendous final in Chengdu.

Ding Junhuidefeated Hong Kong's Marco Fu 10-9 in a closely-contested final of the International Championship in Chengdu on Sunday.

The win saw Ding add to his Shanghai Masters title from September and last month's Indian Open crown. It makes him the first man since Stephen Hendry in 1993 to win three ranking events on the spin.

The 26-year-old, who moves up to a career-high third in the world rankings, has won £257,000 in prize money over a six-week period and joins Peter Ebdon and John Parrott with nine ranking titles to his name.

Four centuries helped Ding build a 5-4 lead at the end of the first session before he returned to claim the 10th frame with a break of 108 to move into a two-frame lead in the best-of-19 final.

Frame 11 went to Fu and he was on for a 147 in the next until he missed the 14th black on 105. A break of 71 put Fu in front at 7-6.

Ding, who defeated Fu 10-4 in the final of the 2011 Masters, tied the match after some much-needed table time of his own, leaving both players needing three frames to claim the title.

Fu regained the lead with an 81, then Ding dominated frame 16 for 8-8. Fu stood a frame away from victory at 9-8 but Ding responded with a 58 to draw level and sealed the title with a 91 in the decider.
