A workshop began in Beijing Monday to help ministerial and provincial officials, including ministers, provincial Party chiefs and governors, to better understand President Xi Jinping's policies.
From this November until June of next year, a total of seven workshops will be held for senior officials by the Party School and Organization Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.
At the workshop, the officials will study a number of speeches Xi has made since the 18th CPC National Congress last November.
Xi's speeches are basic guidelines for the Party to realize its goals, said Liu Yunshan, president of the Party School of the CPC Central Committee and a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, at the opening ceremony of the workshop.
President Xi answered several important questions about the development of the Party and the country, elaborated the principles of the 18th CPC National Congress and improved the Party's understanding of how to build socialism with Chinese characteristics and govern the country, Liu said.
Liu cited a number of concepts that should be carefully studied, such as confidence in the Party's path, theories and systems, the "Chinese dream" and deepened and comprehensive reform.
Officials should also pay attention to Xi's ideas about scientific development, socialist democracy and rule of law, as well as policies in publicity work, diplomacy, defense, party construction and affairs with Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, Liu said.
There is an urgent need to understand and implement Xi's ideas as Party members need to straighten up their minds and find the right direction, he said.
Officials should follow Xi's guidelines in their work and use them to solve problems and push forward reform and development, he added.
