Expo park to become opera center

After the 9th Beijing International Garden Expo ends on November 18, the Garden Expo Park will be renovated into a center to showcase traditional Chinese opera culture, the Beijing Times reported.

According to an anonymous Garden Expo official, temporary facilities such as the volunteer center and dining venues will be demolished and the floral landscaping of the park will undergo adjustment. Meanwhile, construction will begin on an opera museum, theaters, and culture streets for tourists. The new park will open to the public in spring of 2014. Ticket prices have not yet been determined.
