Agricultural produce center to be built in Hebei

A large-scale agricultural produce distribution center will be built in Gaobeidian, Hebei province, as a way to shorten the travel distance for Beijing-bound produce, according to the Hebei Xinfadi Agricultural Products Company, the Beijing News reported.

The center is scheduled to start operation by November of next year. Whenever Beijing is hit by heavy rain or snow, the center will help ensure the stable supply of farm produce in the capital.

Mi Yalin, vice manager of the company, said that the new center will assist the current Xinfadi agricultural product trading center in Beijing. A total of 1,000 vehicles will be assigned to transport the produce from the Gaobeidian center to Beijing, with a travel time of only 40 minutes.
