A county official from Central China's Hunan province was dismissed from his position after his mistress exposed their relationship and his corrupt behavior online, the local publicity department said on Wednesday.
Pan Changwu, deputy secretary of the Party committee of Lanshan county forestry bureau, was investigated and removed by the local discipline watchdog, who said that his relationship with his mistress violated Party discipline and had a bad impact on society.
The local discipline watchdog also suggested that the standing committee of the county's people's congress remove Pan from his another position as the head of the local forestry bureau, rednet.com, a Hunan-based news portal, reported.
Pan's mistress, a staff member from a local tap water company surnamed Tang, revealed the affair by posting photos and text messages online.
The local publicity department said that it had received the news about Tang in September and carried out an investigation.
Pan has become the latest in a long line of officials to be brought down by a mistress.
Fan Yue, former deputy director of the Policy and Legislation Research Department of the State Archives Administration, was sacked after his lover exposed their relationship online in June.
Earlier this year, Yi Junqing, former director of the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, was fired from his position after his extramarital relationship was exposed by his mistress via a diary.
The investigation into Lei Zhengfu, former Party chief of Chongqing's Beibei district, was triggered by the exposure of a sex tape featuring Lei and his mistress, which was later revealed to have been part of an extortion attempt.
