Beijing is currently hosting the Cultural and Creative Industry Expo. All kinds of smart designs and fine art are on display here. Along with high-tech digital exhibits, there are also more traditional arts and crafts being featured.
This 3D film, simulating the flight of Chinese Moon probe Chang'e III, immerses viewers in the experience of space travel.
"First two probe from the Chang'e series orbit the moon, but this third one will land on it. The film gives a genuine feeling of being in space."
But besides looking to the future, old crafts on display also transport you back in time. The patterns on these vases are full of cultural significance.
Mi Zhenxiong, Artist, said, "You can see a chrysanthemum at the top here and a quail underneath it. It's actually a homophonic metaphor for happiness."
A booth offering interactive activities based using paper also attracts a lot of families with children here. The process of wooden printing is new for most of the children here, as it is for their parents.
"Kids today have iPads and mobile phones to play with, so they might not know about old traditions like carving and printing. So I've brought him here to check out this beautiful traditional art."
Old Beijing is also featured here at the expo.
An archaic way of hawking in a tea house also attracts visitors to this courtyard. Tea houses used to be the most popular recreation spot for old Beijingers. You could play chess and listen to music while enjoying your tea. And there are a variety of local snacks on sale.
"I was coming to see some smart designs, which I have seen. But this booth has also enticed me with its traditional food and culture. It's really brought back the old days for me."
The exhibition, bridging the past to the future, wraps up on Sunday.
