Natural gas blamed in Xinjiang blast

The natural gas has been confirmed as the cause of a fatal blast late Monday night in Urumqi, capital of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, local authorities said Tuesday.

Six workers were killed and other six injured in the blast that happened at around 11:30 p.m. in a plant owned by Xinjiang No. 8 Steel Structure Co. Ltd., said the press office of Urumqi municipal government.

Five workers were killed on the spot and seven died later in hospital.
