A Sichuan court ruled a hospital should pay more than 100,000 yuan ($16,400) for a surgical mistake that left the patient with mental confusion and incontinence, West China Metropolis Daily reported on Thursday.
The patient, a 53-year-old woman, went to the Affiliated Hospital of North Sichuan Medical College in Nanyun at the end of last year for head trauma.
The hospital conducted a drainage surgery but on the wrong side of her brain, which caused her to have mental confusion and incontinence.
The hospital conducted another surgery and solved her problem, but refused to compensate for the wrong it did in the earlier surgery.
As a result, the woman sued the hospital, and the court ordered the hospital to pay her 101,115 yuan.
