People in Shijiazhuang, capital of Hebei province, are able to enjoy a visual feast of 36 lifelike Transformers models made from auto parts by fans of the entertainment franchise over the weekend.
The 36 models, which are at the provincial art center, include some that are still being assembled and will be unveiled to the public later.
"They are real Transformers, the same as the ones in movies. They are by no means models," commented one observer.
The models were created by a Transformers fans group named "Transformers Empire." Most of the group's 23 members are from Guangdong Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and aged between 20 and 40.
The group was established in 2001 by two members, mold designer Zeng Huan and mechanic Li Fangtai.
"After three years, we've made 36 Transformers of different sizes with scrapped auto parts," said Li. "All auto parts were paid for by our members. We transported the parts from scrap yards and sourced them from tons of waste."
Li said the 36 models range in height from 30 centimeters to 3 meters, and would be ready for exhibition to the public at the end of this week.
