The name Joe Montana is synonomous with NFL greatness regarded by many as the best quarterback of all-time. Over his legendary career Montana won four Super Bowl titles and three Super Bowl MVP's and two league MVP awards with the San Francisco 49ers, before ending his Hall of Fame run with the Kansas City Chiefs.
And now, he can add football ambassador to his impressive resume as he has made his first visit to China to promote the game.
Montana climbed the Great Wall of China on Monday, part of a whirlwind tour of the country as the National Football League attempts to export the American game to Asia.
Fledgling leagues have popped up across China, but the game and the league are still struggling to gain the type of foothold that basketball and the NBA have in the country. Montana did take in a University flag football game during his trip...and says it is interesting to see the game starting to grow in China.
"There are still in the early stages of introduction of the game here. We went to the University Bowl and saw a pretty good flag football game. I didn't see any full contact, but there are league's here already, so the foot's in the ground." Joe Montana said.
