One person has died and four others remain missing after two ships collided and sank in central China's Hunan province on Wednesday night, the local maritime department said Thursday.
The maritime department of Xiangyin County in Yueyang City received reports at 7:40 p.m. Wednesday that two ships carrying sand sank in the Xiangjiang River, causing all 15 people on board to fall into the water.
Ten people have been rescued so far, including two who suffered injuries in the accident. Of the two injured people, one remains hospitalized for further treatment while the other has been discharged from the hospital.
Rescue work continues, and the cause of the accident is being investigated.
