A man who robbed a young woman as she slept soundly at her home in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on Wednesday, showed that burglars have feelings, too, after leaving a remorseful note at the scene.
The 22-year-old woman surnamed Yu from Anhui province called police after she received a midnight call from her bank.
She then became aware her laptop, cash and credit cards had been stolen.
Police found the note while searching the apartment. It read: "Please lock your door and windows well before you sleep."
"Girl, you just slept like a rock…life isn't easy for a single man, and I had to do this to support myself. Please forgive me," the note continued.
"The note was written in Yu's notebook, which is really funny," said a police officer surnamed Liu.
Yu told police she had not locked her door that night because she was "too tired."
She also complained that her lock was "old fashioned" and "easy to open from the outside."
