The Asian Football Confederation is set to honor its best here on Tuesday in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. China has earned five nominations for the AFC's annual end-of-the-season awards with Champions League winners Guangzhou Evergrande up for four of them.
Evergrande, who took the domestic Chinese Super League crown for a third straight time and became China's first ever AFC Champions League champions are nominated for the AFC Club of the Year, up against the side they beat for Asia supremacy, South Korea's FC Seoul and Kuwait SC.
Evergrande Captain Zheng Zhi will look to take home the Player of the Year, which he has been nominated for a second straight year. His opponents are Ha Dae Sung of FC Seoul and Javad Nekonam of Iran's Esteghlal. Evergrande will also have a shot at the Foreign Player of the Year, in which Dario Conca and Muriqui are vying for the nod with Dejan Damjanovic of FC Seoul.
In addition, the Chinese Football Association is nominated for the Fair Play Association of the Year, along with Japan and South Korea. While promising 18-year old Chinese lady Wang Shuang is nominated for the Youth Player of the Year.
