About 7,600 passengers have been stranded and 128 flights delayed or canceled due to heavy fog over northwest China's Urumqi International Airport on Tuesday.
According to an airport official, visibility fell to under 100 meters on airport runways and a total of 91 flights were delayed while another 37 were canceled. The airport issued an emergency response at 4 p.m..
Local meteorological department forecasted that the fog would last until 8 p.m..
